K - OS FRAC-AS
Wow! Meghan just sent me these links this morning:

http://www.torontoist.com/archives/2006/10/hiphop_artist_a.php
and this resulted:
http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2006-10-26/music_feature2.php

Incidentally, I was listening to Mr. Lif's "Live From The Plantation" (lyrics here) as I read these very articles - a song that references the same "sambo" slur that K-os put on his Myspace, but in an intelligent and somewhat more appropriate context. Maybe Mr. Brereton could take a lesson or two from him.

Anyway I appreciate the links Meaghan, as I think I might suggest this as a 2-min commentary/rant for one of our shows next week, considering he JUST played Halifax. I would be amused seeing one of my angry colleagues get all Rick Mercer on this shit.

What do ya'll think about this? Is it justified? Do you think less of him now?

"[k-os] says the "indie rock" way always favours a limited definition of hiphop"

... which is obviously why Kevin Drew, Sam Roberts, Sebastian Grainger and Buck 65 are all guest musicians on ATLANTIS (and, all white) ...

That's pretty tricky... ouch.

I interviewed K-OS a few weeks back, and he seemed like one of the more down to earth accessible members of the musical community I'd encountered in months. Weerd.

I interviewed him on Wednesday and got the same impression, which is why I find this so frustrating/disappointing.

I've never interviewed him. I interviewed a little kid last week though. For the radio. He didn't call me on my racial agenda neither.

k-os thinks too highly of his talents. he can't take criticism so he plays the race card? what the fuck is that about? in his mind, his record is the greatest, so if someone can't see that, then they must be a racist. if so, call me hitler, cause here's my review of k-os' album:

it sounds suspiciously similar to his last album, which leads me to reason that his music is as fresh as refired beans. k-os is so attention starved that he'd sample the world's smallest violin playing for him. he should join the green party cause he's all about RECYCLING. if k-os urges us to eat a dick, then we'd just be follwing in his footsteps, cause that's apparently what he did with this album: ate his own megalomaniacal dick and regurgitated it into a microphone.
